- Starting big school: OSHC FAQs from our January 2026 Webinar
This article is part of our new ‘Big School, Big Insights’ series, created to support families and share expert perspectives on child development and school readiness. The series follows our recent Prep webinar for the 2026 intake, where we heard from leading voices in education and wellbeing, including Robyn Monro Miller, CEO of Play Australia.
Starting school is a big milestone for children and families. To help you feel confident about before and after school care, we have brought together the most common questions asked during our recent Prep and Kindy webinar.
These FAQs cover how to enrol, how CCS works, what to expect on your child’s first days, and how our educators support children to settle in.
Missed out on our Prep Webinar?
We held our "Big School Let's Go" webinar, designed for Prep & Kindy Parents to learn how Outside Of School Hours Care can help with your child’s transition to primary school earlier this year. Watch the recording here.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
Many families are eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which can reduce the out-of-pocket cost of outside school hours care if eligible.
All families claiming entitlements for approved childcare must have their income assessed by the relevant government department. Note that the guardian completing the enrolment must be the same person linked to the child for CCS, and the CRN of both the child and guardian must be provided.Contact Centrelink Family and Parents Line on 13 61 50 for details on how to register.
Booking and managing sessions
You can make bookings through the Kidsoft Parent Portal or the Kidsoft app. You can set recurring bookings or make casual, ad hoc bookings. Find out more here.

Afternoon sessions include classroom collection, afternoon tea, indoor and outdoor play and child led activities. Learn more about our term time programs here.
Safety and Wellbeing
Educators provide calm starts, predictable routines, extra guidance for young children and strong relationships with families. Prep and Kindy children are also guided to and from their classrooms each morning and afternoon.
Medical and Allergies
Yes. Educators will review and follow all action plans provided and families must supply any prescribed medication.
Getting ready for OSHC
Yes. We strongly encourage all children starting Prep in 2026 to attend our January holiday program. This gives them the chance to explore the school and OSHC environment before term begins, meet educators and older children, and build confidence in a calm setting. These early experiences help make the transition to school smoother and less stressful.
